R2VŠ for MapInfo - freeware

Description: R2V (Raster to Vector) is an application running in the MapInfo GIS environment converting raster images, i.e. orthophotos, into a MapInfo vector grid. Each vector cell has attribute data of RGB (Red, Green, Blue), HSV (Hue, Saturation, Value), HLS (Hue, Lightness, Saturation), CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black), Intensity and Lightness. These values can be use for creating a thematic layer.

Note that Hue from HSV matches the Hue from HLS, but the Saturation from HSV is slightly different from the Saturation in HLS.

The left picture shows a orthophoto of a Danish North Sea coast. The right picture is a thematic layer created by extraction of the black 'spectrum' in the CMYK color space.

  • Version 1.2 2004/05/08
  • Release Date - 2003/08/04

Important note: The raster coordinate system must not be of latitude / longitude type,i.e. degrees. Preferable is UTM. The conversion between pixels and UMT is done by a conformal transformation. This will result in a slight spatial offset between the raster and vector tables. Be aware of this offset. The offset can be minimised by having an optimal orientation of the raster image.

Currently only support for JPG, BMP and GIF formats.

System Requirements:
None special hardware requirement.
You need to have the GIS MapInfo installed.
